Hello everybody -
I am new to using streaming video so please bear with me.
I have trafficked a VAST linear ad through DoubleClick DFP and the engineers who are testing it are using OVA (Open Video Ads) and cannot see the companion.
Is there a plug in or something that needs to be done differently for the companion to show.
BTW - I am able to preview both master video and companion in the Google IMA (Google owns DoubleClick)
Any help would be appreciated! :-)
Hi,
DoubleClick renderes the companions in two different modes - what they term "ad level" and "creative level".
"ad level" companions are not specified in the VAST response and require an additional call to grab the companion content as it is not provided in the VAST response. As this is proprietary and not VAST compliant, OVA cannot serve those types of companions presently.
"creative level" companions are specified "inline" within the VAST response for direct rendering - those are VAST compliant and OVA can render those.
So, the key question is - what form are your companions taking?
If you have an ad tag, I can look at the response and see what's coming back. Email it to me on enquiries@openvideoads.org and I'll take a look.
We're thinking about adding support for the ad-level companions, but as that is a DoubleClick proprietary approach, it's not something that would normally be done, and a little risky as it's subject to change without warning.
My guess is that you have "ad level" companions specified with your VAST 2 response - that's why you see them appear with the IMA and not OVA.
