PreRoll + Pseudostreaming = Loading Indicator keeps spinning during video

Hi,

not sure if its a bug or not (behavior was reported by an client - i'm not able to reproduce this by myself!)

After the PreRoll has been delivered the video is loaded (spinning indicator from flowplayer is spinning) and starts playing, but the loading indicator does not disappear.

Setup: Flowplayer + OVA for AS3 (v0.6.0 RC3 build 113) + VAST Adserver and Client told me that he can reproduce this issue in every browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer).

I guess it has something to do with the duration for the video?

Hi,

This is going to be a tricky one to trace down.

I've just tried that URL as well on all permutations (browsers etc.) that I can think of and I can't see it happen either.

Can I ask - is he seeing this with the Mobilcom Debitel pre-roll? Just wondering if I'm seeing a different pre-roll and hence not the issue.

I have seen this before in the past, and it's been something with the pseudo-streaming provider when switching from HTTP with the ad to pseudo with the stream in Flowplayer, not OVA, so I'm pretty confident that it's not OVA but a player oriented issue.

It also seems to be related to buffering so perhaps playing with buffering settings on the clip may help.

Anyway, let me know which ad they are seeing this with and that will help me know if I'm running exactly the same test here.

Strange they see it but you and I don't - something must be different...

Hi Paul,

thanks for taking a look at this issue. The error occours independent of the Preroll. The cliend just told me that it he's only got the issue with the spinning indicator on this particular video - all the rest are working like a charme ...

Couldn't this be an indiaton of an flash caching issue or something?

Honestly not sure, but it definitely seems related to the fact that the stream isn't coming down quickly enough to keep the buffer full, so it's spinning.

So it's possibly something bandwidth related etc.
