OVA + Flowplayer + Adblock

4 replies [Last post]

Hi,

I'm having some issues with the OVA Plugin for Flowplayer. Everthing works fine so far - execpt a Client uses Firefox with Adblock enabled (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/).

If Adblock is enabled this Plugin eliminates certain connections and Flowplayer is unable to load the Video Ad with this error message:
"200, Stream not found, NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound, clip: ..."

Is there any Workaround or fix?

Hope someone is able to help me ...

Hi,

Just thinking this through - so Adblock isn't actually stopping the VAST ad call - it's just blocking on the ad stream playing? I assume it's a HTTP ad stream - does the ad stream have a domain name in it that adblock recognises? (how is it doing the blocking?)

Paul

Hi Paul,

thanks for the reply. Excatly - Adblock isn't blocking the VAST adserver call but the pre-roll video during the attempt to play the ad.

Seems that the Adserver itself isn't "blacklisted" but the videopath itself contains an */Ads/* ...

Thanks!

Hmmm... very tricky then.. would love to say that there is a simple workaround, but if the ad server is serving up a path, and that path is being blocked by the adblocker, I can't see a way around it :(

I was thinking of some type of proxy, but since that path is ad served, that seems problematic as well...

Can't you just tell the client to not block on that path since you want it played?

Paul

I'm afraid not since there is no "certain client" and adblock is widley used with subscribable blacklists (on which we don't have any influence).
