with the latest version 5.5 my mp4 versions did work on iphone (3gs and 4) with resolution 480p and 720p.
After upgrading to 5.7 - my mp4 does not work any more on iphone, it says:
"The Video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported: http://.... .mp4"
Can anyone explain?
I tested a normal mp4 from your server - worked for me.
Does this mean, I have to modify my export settings exporting mp4's with the new version 5.7 ?
Is it possible that the video is not an H.264 mp4 but rather a H.263 mp4?

Hi my video is playing on ipod version 4.21 (8C148) but is not playing on iphone version 4.3.4(8k2) why? maybe i have an old player version but if so i dnt think it would play on the ipod either. can someone send me the the link to the latest player and any idea why plays on ipod but not on iphone??

It could be an encoding thing.
If you use this video, does it work?
Hi Ethan i've just tested the link that you have sent me and it works on the iphone 3 what could be tghe cause that my videos wont play on the iphone 3 but works on newer versions?
is the video that you've sent me a new player version or something?

It is probably due to how you encoded your video then.
We recommend using HandBrake - http://handbrake.fr/
When encoding, please make sure you are using H.264 Baseline Profile Level 3.0 or lower with no more than three reference frames, AAC Low Complexity Profile, and an MP4 container if you want to support older iProducts. The "Normal" profile in Handbrake doesn't use Baseline Profile H.264 so the older devices can't decode it. Use the iPod or iPhone presets in Handbrake and they will work fine in Flash as well!
That worked PERFECTLY! THANK YOU FOR POSTING IT! I'd been using the Adobe Media Encoder and just blindly using the default H.264 codec settings. I didn't realize that I needed to be below level profile 3, etc. I have no idea what that junk means, but it WORKS! THANK YOU!
Ethan LongTail can you show a screenshot of your video settings in the handbrake programm for encoding a mp4 video?
I don't have one, but just follow my steps above...
Can You post the encoding settings which are necessary that the videos work on iPhone? Which settings are critical?
