Creating Playlists - Embedr, Feedbeat, Yubby, etc

11 replies [Last post]

I'm looking for an easy way to manage my playlists which include videos from Youtube, Blip, Vimeo, and other sources.

Tools like Embedr, Yubby, iDestop.tv, etc, can create playlists from multiple sources. But, as far as I can tell, you're locked into using their player.

Feedbeat.com is the only tool I've found that lets you build a playlist from multiple sources AND generates an XML feed compatible with JW Player. But the interface is a bit clunky and it doesn't seem to be widely used.

Are there other tools that can do this?

Bumping because I can't believe there's nothing out there. Or does everyone edit their XML playlists manually?

YouTube playlists, feeds, and channels work directly in the JW Player.

See: http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forum/Setup-Problems/9001/YouTube-Channel#msg108673

The others might work if they put out a standards compliant playlist in one of the formats that is supported by the JW FLV Player.

See: http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/wiki/FlashFormats#XMLPlaylists

My site uses this player, and you should be able to find the xml request that you can put in your video player.

http://www.jamzee.com

I checked out Jamzee and:
1. It doesn't seem to cover Blip.tv
2. I couldn't tell whether it produces a media RSS feed that JW and other players can access.

So I'm still looking. In the meantime, I'll keep using Feedbeat.com and hope that it doesn't disappear one day.

HELL, COULD YOU PLEAWE PROVIDE CLICKABLE INKS HERE!!! WTF... !!!

Tim,

It currently does not work with Blip.tv, but I will look into that.

You should be able to view the source on the page for a video playlist to find the xml feed I am supplying for JW.

Another video listing service is http://vidlist.hostile-d.com

Currently supporting many hosts, including youtube, vimeo, blip.tv and many more.
The site is very new and constantly being worked on so expect much more being added soon.

I wanted to bump this to let you know skinning is actually possible of a select couple of widgets on Yubby.com.

Check this wiki for more info: http://dikviidoo.pbworks.com/Skinning+your+widget

Soon we will be launching pro accounts at Yubby.com which will give you a WYSIWIG interface for designing and tuning your widgets.

Send me an e-mail of you have any questions: remco [at] yubby.com

Remco,

Yubby.com looks interesting.

If I use it to assemble my playlist, can I feed it into the JW Player (e.g. media RSS)? Or do I have to use the Yubby player?

Tim

@Tim: you would have to use the Yubby player - we call them widgets and they are avaialble in many different forms and sizes and all play inline.

We also offer white label players for businesses and organizations at a fee.
