Can't open flash source "Unexpected file format."

15 replies [Last post]

I have Flash 8 Pro. ...I have Flash 8 Pro. When I try to open the source player.fla I get an error message "Unexpected file format." What's going on?

ok I see after a google search that it could be because this is a CS3 version...

I am getting the same error, I have CS4 anyone else got the problem?

i downloaded the source and it says the player is 11k, thats the FLA and the SWF but if you just download the player from the site the SWFis 42 K

Something is not right??

Thoughts?

Me too.

Here is a fix for this in Firefox (not sure how IE handles it), When you go to download the fla from the site - http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/browser/tags/ you see the list of media players, click the player version you want, you now should see the fla for that player. Don't save it from that list. If you right click to save this file form this screen you will only download a 10kb file. Instead left click the fla you want, the site will tell you: "HTML preview not available, since the file size exceeds 262144 bytes. Try downloading the file instead". Click the word "download" to download the file. Now you will download the whole fla file and it will open in flash. :-) Enjoy
