How can I hide the mute symbol with player 4.4 but yet still have the video muted?

How can you remove the "mute" overlay symbol yet still mute the player?

I would like also to remove the mute symbol. Or if it can disappear after a few seconds.

And might I add WITHOUT having to set the volume to zero (0).
