Source for HQ/HD Movie Trailers?

No replies

Does anyone know of a source for high quality versions of movie trailers?

I thought Youtube was going to work for this purpose, but their terms and conditions apparently only allow streaming of the lowest quality videos, unless you ember their player.

I have seen many workarounds, but these apparently get "patched" by YouTube within a week or so of being used. If YouTube really doesn't want us using other players to stream their HQ videos, they certainly have that right, and i guess it makes OK business sense for them to not be paying for the bandwidth of the bigger files being delivered when they don't get ad revenue from everyone else's players on other sites.

However, for movie trailers specifically, it would make perfect sense for (for example) Fox/Searchlight to host and stream their own movies from their own servers to ANYONE that wants to display them anywhere. These are, after all, commercials for their products.

I CAN get most movie trailers as hotlinks from the Apple.com site, but would rather not have to deal with using the quicktime player on my sites - it's a bit of a trickier Javascript implementation (almost impossible to get full screen display for instance) and the quicktime plug ins are not nearly as widely installed as Flash.

Maybe Adobe can make a deal with the movie distributors like Apple did, and can host the videos for us?

Nearly every official movie site seems to have several Flash versions of their trailers, but these are very tricky to hotlink, and some seem nearly impossible.

Amazon.com now even offers a movie trailers widget for displaying movie trailers (for its associates) but you are still stuck with their player, even if you just want to make an Amazon store for the purpose of selling DVDs.

Does anyone know of any place where I can currently get HQ movie trailers in any Flash-playable format and display them on my website, without having to host them myself?
