Setting audio run time

You should be able to play any length sound file with our player, and you will not need to set the duration flashvar at all.

If I remove the "duration" parameter the sound file ends prematurely. Can you give me an example of what the code should look like?

There is no player embeded anywhere at this time in any of the available pages. I have a "test" html document I'm using. The link above is playing a classic radio jingle I have embeded in my index.htm

http://oldiesauthority.com/flash.htm. It's set up with the "duration" parameter to match the jingle. If I take out the "duration" parameter the player stops about 2 seconds short. Have tried it with a longer sound file and the result is the same.... the file quits playing a few seconds before it's supposed to end .

I would like to try this but can't figure out how to get the source code. when I go to the URL all I can see is the player and I can't view the source code in my browers.

Open http://player.longtailvideo.com/player4.2.swf in Firefox, go to File > Save as.

I take it I'm supposed to upload the file "player4.2.swf" to the server where my pages reside and then change the code in the web page by removing the duration?

Yes.

It worked the first time, then when the page was re-loaded the player tries to load but never succeeds. I've put things back the way they were and it works again with "player.swf" and the duration set back the way it was.

This is frustrating!

All you should need to do is upload the player from http://player.longtailvideo.com/player4.2.swf to your site, call it player.swf, remove the duration, it should work!

Ah.... I didn't rename "player4.2.swf" to "player.swf" the first time. Now everything seems to be working just fine and I can have the player air any length file without having to reset the duration whenever I change the file.
