Ok iv been all over these forums and tried everything suggested and I still can not get an mp4 to buffer. It simply loads the whole file until it starts playing.
I have tried using qt-faststart and mp4box and nothing is making it work.
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? Im using the latest version of jw player
i also use the latest version of the JW player and i notice that Mp4s are not allways loading into the player.
On some machines running IE the movie is playing..
on some machines running IE and FF the movie is not played. very strange ,,, this is the url of the sample movie.

i have the same problem as you! JW player plays all flv videos immediately but when I play some .mp4, JW player plays the video, when it's buffered all. How to play .mp4 in JW player at the moment after touching on play button? Any help?

this is a very general problem for mp4..its all due to MOOV atom ... by default its at the end...you need to push it to the beginning..
there is a utility for that called qt-faststart which can do it
this is a very well known problem
we can also have server fix for this
search it on internet that how to place MOOV atom at the beginning ...

I suggest using Handbrake to encode mp4s.
Handbrake also puts the MOOV atom at the end. You need to use qt-faststart or another utility to move the MOOV atom from the end to the front of Handbrake-produced MP4s.
When I use HandBrake for MP4 they player perfectly in the JW Player, though.
My mp4 with a JW player works great in FF but has the buffering problem in IE.
