fast forward after buffering

10 replies [Last post]

I link to a quite big .mov h264 file, so I'd like to have a bigger buffer. I set buffer to 10 seconds. this buffering is working but after this 10s the movie will play in a fast-forward-like manner, no in normal speed as it should. is this a JW player problem? or in the .mov-file?

here example without buffering:

and with 10s buffering:

thanks for any tips

Hi Jay,

Both links appear to play back correctly for me. Can you provide any other details about your setup such?

Hi I have the same problem video loads and buffers and jumps around 30 frames before it plays normally.

I have set the flash "start" variable to "1".

What is wrong.

Can you try using this version of the player? http://developer.longtailvideo.com/player/trunk/fl5/player.swf

It should work.

I have replaced the player in the examples with the new one, but the problem still exists. On IE (winxp) it's working fine but not on Mac OS 10.4.11 (I tested safari and FF).

Any further ideas?

This works perfectly for me in FF, however, I do not have Mac.

but can someone else confirm these problems on Mac OS X with FF or Safari?

I am having similar problems. It seems to mainly happen when the video is very short. It buffers then jumps a second into it.

I have not set any "start" or "duration" values

Has anyone found a solution?

Adam - Can you provide a link to where you are running this?

Bug was in 5.0, 5.1 seemed to fix it

The issue seemed to be whether player.swf was in the cache or not. Although sometimes it would in fast forward even with it in the cache.

It was happening with very short clips: like 4 sec

Good, glad that 5.1 fixed the issue :)
