Contensis CMS built-in JW player license

6 replies [Last post]

Hi there,

We've recently come to the conclusion that we may need to upgrade our version of JW Player due to an issue with our licensed skin and allowing the full screen option [play buttons appears in odd places].

We maintain our websites using the Contensis CMS which has the JW Player built in already.

If we needed to upgrade the in-built JW Player, would we need to purchase a new license OR can we download the latest version for free?

Any help most appreciated.

Simpson

Hi Simpson,

Do you know what version of the JW Player the Contensis CMS uses as the default version? According to our records, it does not appear that Contensis has a license for the JW Player (perhaps the license is under a different name).

Given this, you would need to purchase a JW Player license if you would like to upgrade. I am not familiar w/ the Contensis CMS, so I suggest that you make sure that you can upgrade the built-in JW Player b/f you purchase your license.

Hope that's helpful. Thx

Apologies....Genetics is the actual company that develops the Contensis CMS, so it could be under that name too.

The in-built version of JW Player is 4.1.60.

Again any help would be great.

Ok. Let us look into and get back to you.

Thx

Hi there,

Any update on this one?

Simpson

I would be careful about the legalities of the Genetics Ltd Contensis CMS as in 2008 they were heavily fined for breach of copy write laws by the British Software Alliance.

Genetics are a connning company.

They were called Genesis Interactive until 2004 when they went bust with a partner being conned out of £300k.

The MD and owner is Richard Chivers, or Alan Richard Chivers- a short ginger SOB.

They should be shut down as they steal lots of things
