I wondered: Is it legal ...I wondered: Is it legal to show youtube videos OUTSIDE the youtube player?..

Okay nice :)..
Thanks..

Another question on this topic ... I have found on youtube diffrent music clips taken from tv and posted is that legal too or traks taken from albums :-?? Pls answer ?

I too wonder if this is legal. I have created a JWplayer xml playlist containing tons of music videos, but I am afraid to make it public due to the risk of getting slaughtered by danish law.
So If I link to an "illegal" music video through my JW video-playlist, I cannot be sued due to the fact that it is legal to YouTube videos inside another player. Which means that YouTube is the responsible one?

Interesting legal issues are being discussed at is it legal to, www.isitlegalto.com. Good luck!

Here are my opinions, but I want to state that I'm not a lawyer and this post does not constitute legal advice. If you want a legal opinion, I suggest that you seek professional counsel.
To my knowledge, I do not think you can be prosecuted for embedding a YouTube video with questionable copyright issues. This is YouTube's problem. However, if you host a video w/ questionable copyright issues, then it's your problem and you can be sued.

could be depends as there are a lot of laws your best bet is to go to a legal forum like http://www.isitlegalto.com it specializes in legal questions and concerns.

Ok how about this. Is it legal to cover the youtube player with the JW player and display longtail ads in the player? Or are you only allow to show longtail ads if your hosting your own videos?

@Makaveli - I believe it is against YouTube's terms of service to display LongTail ads on videos hosted by YouTube.

Is it legal to place a video of another person you know up on youtube while they are intoxicated?

That's a question for YouTube to answer...

What about having a playlist with some advertising clip before the YouTube video plays? Is not played over the YouTube video. Is that legal?

That's also a question for YouTube to answer...

Then how about playing a youtube video in another player, but with the source coming from youtube?
(just the interface being different .. the video being stored and accessed from youtube)

@MEme - The JW Player does this through the YouTube API.
Demo - http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player-setup-wizard?example=205

Then is legal or not to use videos of youtube in jwplayer with ads of longtail?
Thank you

Mike,
This is a question you should direct to Google. Only they are able to answer questions regarding the legality of their API.
Best,
Darjan

Then the question is if anyone already asked it to google?
Please share the answer... I have just made my question to youtube staff... waiting for answer

Mike,
We haven't asked previously.
Best,
Darjan

I recently found JWPlayer embeds of a popular video of mine posted around the internet. Do these send views/statistics back to the video on YouTube? (Sorry to be a wet blanket; I'm asking here because it could be in violation of copyright if it doesn't.)

The JW Player uses the YouTube API to play YouTube videos. The views in the YouTube API do not get counted on the video on YouTube though. Not sure if it sends the statistics back though.

Its not Legal, i receive an email from youtube that ask me to change the player and use the one they give you in the api, so if you dont want to loose your time dont make anything with jwplayer and youtube.

And what was the content of that email? We use their official API so this is news to us!

is it legal to show youtube content of say "Dance to the Music" in a public setting such as a kid's museum as part of an educational video to get kids to exercise?

I can't see why not.

is it legal to show youtube videos in a public forum such as church we have the licensing for songs Is there a license for videos

You should probably contact the person that uploaded the videos to YouTube that you are trying to play about that...
Hi, I'm Adam from LongTail Video, here to answer your licensing questions.
Yes, it is legal to YouTube videos inside another player, such as the JW Player. YouTube specifically created an API to allow this functionality.
