Commercial use question

116 replies [Last post]

I hate to ask the same question over again, but we just want to be clear.

We use the player on a single website to stream local music for our users. We would like to have advertising content run through the player as well.

Will a commercial license cover this use?

Yes, a single commecial license (15 euros) will cover this.

If I purchase the license, can it be used for adult content website.

Yes, that's possible. It's not a thing I want to get ethical about...

Hi,
I'd like to use your nice scirpt on my commercial web site, but I have a little question.
Can I modify your script under the commercial lisence as well as under CC license? (I have ActionScript skills.)

Yes, that's no problem!

Thank you so much :)

I didn't know where to post this question, so I'll just post it here:
I found your site after viewing propoolvideo.com on the web, and I'd like to get a commercial license (as I assume they have one) I want to have a setup similar to theirs for pool videos, but I am having an awful time trying to figure out how to get my video files into a manageable, usuable size. I have a company helping me make the site, but this particular area we are having trouble with, I have many large video files I want to put on the web, and then purchase the player license, any help is greatly appreciated.

Why don't you take a look at my [url=http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Bits_on_the_Run]Bits on the Run[/url] system? It's especially built to easily manage online video.

How would you and I go about corresponding some details? It seems like the price of the system you propose is negotiable at the time, I am certainly interested in it, since I'm having some inconsistent results and some major trouble with all the other players and programs.

Mike, please email me at mail [at] jeroenwijering [dot] com

Hi Jeroen,

I’m working for a German company which develops commercial authoring systems for e-learning applications.

We have evaluated your player and would like to use it in our products as a component for playing *.flv files.

Would the using of the player be covered trough the unlimited unrestricted license in this case? The problem which I see, is that the published web application, which they create with our systems, are running on the websites of our customer and they develop the web applications at own. Would this still be covered with the unrestricted license?

A second question is how your work must be attributed when using the unlimited unrestricted license.

Sincere regards

Marko

Hello Marko,

This is indeed covered in the unrestricted license (even incorporated in the license language). You won't have to attribute me at all if you have an unrestricted license.

Hi Jeroen,
A colleague who left the company included flvPlayer in a website we are developing. What we found when we went live is that flvPlayer works on the internet on my machine, but noone else's.
I have one colleague who uses IE6 and XP, and another who uses Vista and IE7. I use XP & IE7.
I do not honestly think that is the issue though.
The question really is why would it work on my machine and no one else's?

Perhaps the larger Flash file is exported to AS3, or Flash Player 9? Or perhaps something in the surrounding HTMl is wrong, or you include MP4 videos (only supported from version 9.0.60).

I'm looking to distribute video on a CD as part of a press pack.
My plan is to have the CD launch a browser with a webpage that contains embedded video.

What license do I need?

Cheers!

You need either a single license (if you get paid for the job or if it's a company's cd) or no license (if it's nonprofit or personal).

We have a web site which shares users video. And we have a widgets(containing video from our site) that can be embedded to other users sites. Does your single website license covers our task, or we should use other licensing plan?

And we are wondering, if we buy your player, will we get the source code for this player along with the binary? If not, how much does it cost?

A single license will cover this.

And the source code is already in the ZIP file!

(Please excuse my poor english - but my dutch would be worse...) We're developing from time websites for agencies. In this case, our customer is an agency which itself will sell the website as part of a package to the end-customer. Who should buy the license?

Matthias,

Either you can purchase the license on behalf of the agency/client, or the agency can purchase it.

I was wondering what kind of "purpose" is considered as commercial? For example, I'm working on a website for a band, and it would be nice to have your player on the site. Would this be something that should be considered as commercial purpose and thus we'd need to get a license? Thanks!

Hi,

I have the same question as Juha - I am working on a website for an unsigned band and would like to use the player on their site.

Also, if we do need a commercial licence, and purchase one, can we have 2 players on the same site under the 1 licence??

For example 1 for mp3s and 1 for videos?? (I am aware you can have both mp3s and videos on the 1 player).

Cheers.

I am working on a commercial website - however the media player will only be used to allow users to sample the music on a CD which they are selling, donated all proceeds to charity. Would this be fine with no licence?

Will 1 commercial license cover 2 players: a flv player and a rotator on the same domain?

Hi,
I'm currently designing a webpage for the Music Department's mock Booking Company. They are selling a service, but it isn't profitable and its is mostly designed for students to practice managing bands. So I'm unsure as to whether this requires a license. Since they *are* selling something. Can I use it with the Creative Commons License?

Hi Jeroen,

We're currently using your player in a commercial context (and own a license for it), but I'm wondering if this also permits us to alter the source code of the player, because we would like to add our own features to it.

Could you answer that for me? Thanks!

I want to start flash streaming service to client. it is small company. But I don't have player, if I buy license, can I support that player to my client?

I want to use this player for my portal.
It isn't big, just allow client to upload moive.
Can I use this player free or should I buy license?

I am developing a web site for a Christian, non-profit organization. The only "commercial" aspect to the web site will be the ability to make a charitable contribution. Would you consider this commercial or non-commercial use? Thanks.

Hi Jeroen,

I would like to use your player to display my visual effects demo reel on my site.
Since this could lead to future employment, would this be considered a commercial use?

Thanks.

@Inishi: if it is a paid-for service, a (single) license still has to be bought.

@Reinier: Of course! Altering the code is always possible.

@Emily: Yes, that is possible.

@Milos: If you run advertisements, or have a company, you need a license. If it's a personal project, a license is not needed.

@Guy: Non-profits do not need a license.

@Oswald: Are you freelance/a company? Then I'd rather have you get a (single) license. If it's more your personal portfolio for getting a job, it is not needed.

I want to use the shadowbox.js by Michael J. I. Jackson for several (commercial) client websites. This JS utilizes your Flash-Player. Shadowbox as such is licenced under GNU. Do I need to buy one of your licences or is your player part of shadowbox.js licence?
If I buy a "multi-website" licence from you - under the name of my company- , will it cover the websites of my clients too? I want to use your player on client websites, when displaying videos is neccessary...

Thanks for your help!

You indeed still need a license from my player. It should be mentioned in the shadowbox.js readme.

If you get an unrestricted license, you can indeed deploy the player with all your clients.

Hey Jeroen,
first of all: Great .flv-Player. I would like to use it on a website for one of my clients. The website covers the topic renewable energy and the some videos are used to explain stuff like solar energy. The company does't earn money by showing videos. There are no commericals or advertising on the website. Do I need a license for these "educational purpose"?

Regards, Bernd

Bernd - It sounds like the site is not being commercially in any way. If that is the case then no license is required. Additional information can be found at: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/.

Clarification please. Does use of the JW FLV player on a college web site constitute commercial use? Do we need to purchase a license? We're a small private college.

Could you please descript the term "commercial" more in detail? I think there is a diffrence in the interpretation. It could mean two things:

1. "earning money directly by using the flash player", e.g. using the player and having ads on the website or using the player to show a trailer of a video which can be bought.
2. "it is used by a company", e.g. a craftsman installs heaters. On his website he demos the functionality of a heater, which could be more efficient than old ones. In this case the money is not directly earned by the video but the company is "commercial" because it installes heaters.

I'm still a little bit confused. Would you please help me?

@Bernd - on the "Order" page - http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?page=order

it says quite clearly: commercial license allows you to deploy one of the players on a corporate site
all considered i think that must mean both #1 and #2 are to be understood as commercial ?

What type of license do I require to use the player on under multiple sub domains of mydomain.com (commercial)?

Thank you.

Hi, a similar question has been asked above but not sure if it is still applicable to my case.

I am working with an established site that uses your player for streaming music. All music featured is by signed, high profile artists. We are interested in enabling our users to take source code to copy the player into their social networking pages, however we need clarity on whether this is breaching any rights the artists may have, and whether we are then considered to be using the player for commercial use (as we would like to brand with or logo is possible and link back to our site from the player)?

Thanks in advance for your response.
Ian

@Frank: one license is OK.

@Ian: The music site is using the player commercially, so they should get a license. And I can imagine the artists don't like the embedding of their music, but I cannot say anything about that. You'll have to ask with the site owner again.

I am writing a little application that requires a flash player. I will release the application under a GPL licence. Am I free to include your player in the distribution package? And do I need a licence for that? If so, what licence?

Hi Jeroen,

Regarding the commercial use of JWP (FLV) our legal department requires to understand the JWP license conditions.

The license conditions disallow modification of the source code, yet in your response (15.05.2008) to Reinier's question (08.05.2008) above it's mentioned that modification of the source code is allowed.

It will be great if you can articulate, as it will help us understand this better

Further, please advise us whether calling video-ad URLs from other Video Ad Serving solution providers will constitute a violation of JWP's commercial license. Because, we are about to partner with such a provider who will serve in-stream video Ads into the JW Player that we intend to use.

Our last question is about the limit on the number of streams - 5 million per month - mentioned in the license. What form of licensing will a publisher/aggregator, who intends to use JWP, need to do in order to serve unlimited streams.

Thank you.

Hi, this is Adam from LongTail.

@Fideri - Is your program commercial or non-commercial? If your site is commercial (it's part of a corporation or has ads), then you require a license. Also, if you are distributing it, it's necessary to pop a message instructing users when they are required to buy a license:

You must buy a commercial license if:

1. Your site has any ads (AdSense, display banners, etc.)
2. You want to remove the players' attribution (eliminate the right-click link)
3. You are a corporation (governmental or nonprofit use is free)

@Hemant - to answer your questions,

1. You can modify the code.
2. Calling video-ad URLs from other Video Ad Serving solution providers will constitute a violation of JWP's commercial license, unless you purchase an enterprise license.
3. To serve an unlimited number of streams, you must buy an enterprise license.

If you would like to purchase an enterprise license, email me directly @ adam [a] longtail video (dot) com.

Home much is multi or unlimited use license for corporations and does this mean I can use it for my clients?

Do you have a JW Player commercial for Wordpress plugin, if so can I buy it from your site ?

Hi, this is Adam from LongTail.

@Ray - our premium license is 200 Euros, but it's not appropriate if you have multiple clients. For that you should buy an enterprise license. Please email me directly to discuss: adam [a] long tail video [dot] com.

@Norton - not sure I understand your question. Do you mean can you run our AdSolution on Wordpress? If so, then yes. You can sign up for our AdSolution here: https://dashboard.longtailvideo.com/signup.aspx You'll immediately receive an email from one of our Partner Relations Managers, simply respond to that email if you have further questions.

Hello,
first congratulation for all your developments, all your solutions are really really good !!!

I am working for a web agency that supplies web site for corporate organisations (so with ads and everything...).
As there are some advertising, we definitely need to buy a commercial licence. For the moment there isn't any in video advertising, so enterprise licence is not necessary.

My questions:
- As we are working for different clients, who should buy the licence ? The client or us?

- As web agency do we concider the adaptation and copies for our own use?
Indeed you say: Make Copies of the JW Player FOR YOUR OWN USE & Create Adaptations of the JW Player FOR YOUR OWN USE.

- If yes, with commercial licence we can do it for only 50 clients? Am I right?

- When you specify 5 000 000 streams/month is it for all the domain/clients? or for each of them?

- In a second time, if we need to develop new features on the player (so changing code), if each of our clients stream more than 5 000 000 video/month or if we implement in-video advertising. We would need an Enterprise licence.
What is the price of it? Can we go easily from the Commercial licence to the Enterprise one?

Thanks for all your answers and continue your good job :-)

Hans

Hello,

Just a few quick questions:

1. Is the commercial license transferable? eg. for different domains under the same corporation or different corporations.

2. Is there any license allows fewer domains with a cheaper price? eg. 5 or 10 domains.

3. Is there a license for just image rotator? Coz I saw this statement:

The Image Rotator is licensed under a Creative Commons License. It allows you to use, modify and redistribute the script for free for noncommercial purposes. For corporate use, please apply for a 20 euros commercial license!

Thanks.

Morris.

>>>> Once you use the player on the domain, it counts as having been used. You can't buy a single license and use it o one domain for a month, then switch it to another domain. That would require purchasing an additional license.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

For #1, is the license transferable if a domain is sold together with the imagerotator license from one company to another company? eg. www.abc.com with the use of imagerotator is owned by company A and would like to sell to company B. Thanks.

Morris.

I will use this player in a education web site, no-comercial. Must i pay for the license?

Hi Jeroen and Adam,

I am currently in the process of testing various media players for commercial use.
Does the EULA for JW FLV Media Player allow me to test it without paying?
Of course the license will be payed for as soon as we decide to go into production.

Kind regards,
Ralf

Hi Jeroen,

I'm php programer of czech company which produce adult content and distribute it on self websites. We would like to use your flvplayer, but we need to modify it for advertising use. We would like to buy multi-license, but we are not sure, if we will have the rights to modify your player for our using. May I contact you by some no-public chanel?

Thank You for Your responce,
Pavla

We use the JW Media Player commercially (multi-site licence bought for that) but will soon be releasing a new CMS / Web Application API / WebOS under a BSD style licence ( Joomla and Drupal take heed ;-) )

We would like to redistribute your player in the system with an appropriate warning stating that the user must purchase a licence for the player in the circumstances you give in your own licence agreement; we would then direct them to your page. Is this acceptable? Note, we are not looking to supply a modified version of the player - just redirect people to your site to buy a licence when required. Is that reasonable to you?

Regards

Aeomer (CTO, Zuvvi WebOS)

Hi, this is Adam from LongTail.

@Morris - The license is non-transferrable.

@Heverton - No license is needed.

@Ralf - Technically, the answer to your question is no, though we usually don't come after people when they're in the testing phase.

@Pavla - I handle all licensing issues, so please email me directly @ adam [a] longtail video (.) com to discuss.

@Aeomer - We should discuss, as this isn't the way we normally operate. Pls email me.

Hi Jeroen and Adam,

About a year ago I found JW MP3 player 3.12 which I really liked. Now I'm going to create a foreign languages learning web site where I suggest using the player to play only mp3 files. I will possibly place some ads on the site with time. Unfortunately, I could not find any information about this player on this site. So, do I need to get a license for it and, if yes, where can I get it? Or what could you suggest me in my situation?

Thanks,

Best regards from Russia

Alexander

Hi, this is Adam from LongTail.

Yes, you need a license. You can buy one for the JW 4x player (also works as an MP3 player). Order a license here:

http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order

Hi, Jeroen and Adam,

Im a webdesigner who design wedding website for my customers. They would control their website from my cms.
Thus your player would be on their personal site.Do i need to get a commercial license for this? Im charging for the webdesign not for the CMS.

Yours Sincerely,
Galvin Chew

Hi

We own a commercial license and want to provide public video embedding code (similar to what YouTube does) so that our customers can embed our videos to their blogs.

Just wanted to make sure this is covered by your license.

I guess this is similar to what Maxix asked on Apr. 11, 2008...

Thanks,
Vladimir

@Galvin -- all your customers must buy a license or you can buy one on their behalf.

@Vladimir - this is allowed under the commercial license.

Hi,

We're looking to use the JW FLV Player on a site that we are currently developing.

There is a beta site that we are hosting ourselves and when the site goes live it will be hosted elsewhere. The beta and live sites will be on different domains.

My questing is, will we need to purchase two licenses, one for beta and one for live?

Cheers,

Tony.

I looked at your site today and I'm considering buying a 50 website commercial license. I am a web developer and it would be nice to use this on sites we develop over the next year or so. The problem is on your form you ask for the URLs of the sites where the player will be used and I can't provide that. Are you saying I have to develop them and pay for licenses one by one? Why can't I buy the 50 web site license and then self-monitor to make sure I only use the player on no more than 50 sites?

I'm stuck on how to proceed........

Hello everyone.

1. I am designing an HTML based website. I am planning to have Google Ads. However the pages that uses your product will not include ads (The other pages of the site will include). Should i get a license?

2. If the answer "yes". I can build another site for video pages without ads. Can my first site (with Google Ads) include links to the video site (without ads)?.

Yes your license is cheap but i am very new on designing so i do not know if i can earn more than your license payment (My site's pagerank will be so low at the beginning and Google Ads pays very low in my country).

@Tony - You must buy two licenses, but if you do so at the same time, you can save 24% on the cost of both licenses.

@License - You don't need to give us all 50 domains up front. Instead, we suggest that you contact us whenever you provide a player to a client and we can generate a new license for that client. Also keep in mind that you must inform the client of the liccense restrictions associated w/ the player (e.g. you're not allowed to run outside advertising in the media space, you're not allowed to resell our source code, etc.). If you have further questions, please contact us:
http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/contact-us

@Gokhan - If you have any ads on any pages on your site, even if the player isn't on a page w/ ads, then your site is still considered commercial and you must buy a license. Here's what I suggest -- if you only choose to buy a single site license and go through our checkout process (https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order)
at the end select "Trial Pay" as your payment method and you can get a license for FREE just by filling out an offer. Thanks in advance for your support.

@

Edit: sorry wrong place for this question. will retry

hello. i´d like to integrate your great player in a client´s website. it´s an event and film company presenting making of and maybe commercials they did for their clients. no ads no shop. do i need a license? besides: i have a copy of an old version of your player. does your licensesheme include old versions?
thank you so much

@pansparty - as a general rule of thumb, if you're in doubt then you should buy a license. In this case, you are creating a site for a customer. You are collecting money for your design, the player is a part of the design, hence you must buy a license. Moreover, it's important to make your customer aware of the terms of the license.

Additionally, as the event & film company is a for-profit corporation, they would need a license regardless.

You can buy a license here:

https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order

Is the player free for Governement Minitries from any country? is there any rules or guidlines regarding this matter?

I am wanting to use the accessible FLV player on a website for a charity. I am charging for the development time. Will I also need to purchase a license.

@attota - The player is free for Government Ministries, though you are not allowed to remove the "right-click" attribution that identifies the player as a JW Player.

@sonia - If you are a designer/developer who is charging a client for a finished product that includes the player, you must (i) purchase a license and (ii) make your client aware of the restrictions of that license. You may purchase a license here:

https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order

I plan to purchase your Video Player and intend to run Advertisements from my own Adserver for commercial purposes. Can you please suggest the way out?

I am looking to use your product to add video to a website that does not include ads, but does promote the sponsorship and progression of a race car driver. Do I need a license for this?

I'm creating an internal training site at the company I work for. It's for internal use only, won't be customer facing, won't hold ads, etc. Does this require a license? I'm not collecting money for adding the flash piece to the website, but just want to make it look better.

Thanks

@BGRacing - Yes, you absolutely need a commercial license for this.

@Billy - Yes, you absolutely need a commercial license for this.

Hi.
I'm creating a web site for a building company and they would like to have on theire home page a video player like this one to illustrate their job.
What kind of license I should get?
Thanks a lot.

I'm using the player on a website that I have developed free of charge for my church organization (a UK registered charity). Do I require the commercial license?

Hello,

I am working as an intern at an insurance agency. I am looking to create a promotional video. Can I use the conversion feature to aid my editing process, even if I do not use the player on my site? Do I need a license for that?

Hi there, if I have already purchased a commercial license for several websites with an older player (can't remember if it was 3.1 or 4.1) but for upgrading the player to 4.5 do I still need to pay for another license?!
Thanks.

John, the player itself doesn't have any conversion functionality, are you speaking of a different product?

Robbie, if you have 3.1, yes you do need to purchase another license, but if you're using 4, you do not.

Hi,

I work for a media company and would like to know which type of license we will need. We want to host the player on our server but allow other websites to grab the code to stream a video from their website. The code will always reside on our server, not theirs.

What type of license will we need?

Thanks,
Nicole

I purchased JW MediaPlayer 15 months ago for two commercial sites. Sould I by a new licence if I want to ugrade to version 4.5

Hi Jeroen,

I want to add a video player to my site where i will be playing a video which then promotes a further video to generate an opt in.

After the person has opted in they will be taken to the video and their will be a "BUY NOW" opportunity to buy a coaching programme.

Do I need a commercial licence for this. I presume i do but not sure so feel safer asking?

Also can you suggest a resource for developing bespoke skins (person or software)

Regards

Richard

@Richard - Yes, you'll need to purchase a commercial license. You can do so here:

https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order

it might somebody asked before, but we just want to clarify something 'commmercial' here. we're non-profit buddhist organization running a brocasting website. The broadcasting content usually it's buddha historical speaches, or event recording. Do we require purchase a commercial license if we use JW FLV Player embedded into our website?

Hi Jeroen,

I've got a question about the 'unrestricted amount of commercial projects' license which we bough in 2008.

This year our company (licensee) was splittet within a management buyout. And so on, some of other programlicenses change the licensee.
Now the problem is the 'old' company needs their player license, yet.
Do we have to buy a new one or can we split this, too?
And if we have to buy a new license, which one?
We need a license for our own project websites and possibly for customer projects. I read something about reseller program?

Thanks a lot.

Stefan

Good afternoon Jereon, I found your player and like its compactness. I am planning on having multiple players on one page (8 to be specfic) to handle 8 different .flv files. Q1: Will one commercial license cover all 8 instances of the player on (1) page. Q2: Do you have a better suggestion on how to handle mutltiple videos on one page. I really don't want to have a (1) video per page scenario. Look forward to hearing from you

Greg

Hi we just brought your com licence version and install to our page.but the video is run in ends shows always Embeded code in the player.how can we take off this?

--- NOTE: This license for "unrestricted amount of commercial projects" is only good for the v3.x version of the player, NOT the v4.x.

This year our company (licensee) was splittet within a management buyout. And so on, some of other programlicenses change the licensee.
Now the problem is the 'old' company needs their player license, yet.
Do we have to buy a new one or can we split this, too?

--- You must buy a new license. Licenses are non-transferrable and cannot be split.

And if we have to buy a new license, which one?

--- We no longer offer an unresticted license. If you need something similar, I recommend emailing us at bizdev { a } longtail video {.} com and inquiring about an enterprise license.

We need a license for our own project websites and possibly for customer projects. I read something about reseller program?

--- Yes, we have a reseller program where you can get 20% - 30% off single site licenses. Please email the address listed above and someone will get back to you with further details.

QUESTION from blin:
it might somebody asked before, but we just want to clarify something 'commmercial' here. we're non-profit buddhist organization running a brocasting website. The broadcasting content usually it's buddha historical speaches, or event recording. Do we require purchase a commercial license if we use JW FLV Player embedded into our website?

ANSWER:
No, you do not require a commercial license as long as you do not remove the JW watermark or attribution in the right-click.

Hi - I want to use the player to give details of a free video.

Do i need a license for that?

Hello,

we plan in our company to design instructional CDs where we want to present our products incl. some videos. We would like to use your player for this purpose. CDs will be given to customers on personal meetings or by post for free. We plan to prepare approx. tens of copies. Perhaps in the future, we would like to present those videos on our web page too.

I would like to ask you:
a) Do we need a commercial licence for creating the CDs only? If yes, which one?

b) If we want to put videos on our webpage, I suppose we need to buy a single licence for 49,-EUR. Would this licence cover also the CDs creation?

Many thanks for your quick answer.

Regards
Tomas

Seems like no one has asked this but is the license fee and support fee a one time only fee or is it yearly etc...

Hi
A friend of mine runs a small garage and i am building him a website to display and promote pre-owned cars and used spare parts. I plan to use the JW Image rotator on the site. Would i need a licence? If so which one and how much would it cost?

BTW The Image rotator is really cool! Its the best one i could find on the internet!

Thanks,

Jeshurun.

Is the primary website of a university considered commercial use?

I want to use the player for a friend's website. He is a freelance graphic designer and is not paying me for my services. The video will be of his portfolio.

If this can't be done without buying a commercial license, can you recommend other products.

Thanks,

We are a private, non-profit (tax exempt) educational institution in the US. We would like to use the player within our online learning management system for video lectures and other video-file class material.

This could be considered commercial, since we do generate revenue from the tuition paid by the students that are taking the classes online.
However, this could be considered non-commercial if non-profit status of the college is considered.

Should we purchase a license to cover such use?

If you would like more details of how we intend to use it, in order to make a decision, please let me know where to communicate to.

Thank you!

@ Jeshurun S: Yes, you will need a commercial license for the Imagerotator. The pricing for a license of the Imagerotator is the same as the pricing for a license of the JW Player.

See this link for our pricing plans: https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order2

@ Dave M: if you are using the player for a university website, you are required to purchase a commercial license

@ Bill: Yes, you will need to purchase a commercial licenses for the JW Player. Can you send over an example of how you will using just so we can confirm? Thx

Hi -

Did not get response to original post on 24th August...

I want to use the player to give details of a free video.

Do i need a license for that?

Thanks

Shokoya,

Can you please show us the website you intend to use the player on? It is very hard to determine whether you need a license or not based on the information you have provided us with.

Best Regards,

Darjan

I have a client who runs a personal site (he travels and gives talks) who is using the JW Player through wordTube via wordpress.

He does, however, have a link to a book he is selling (offsite)... would this require a commercial license?

Yes it would.

I have read the license agreement for the players and I'm still confused at what it covers.

Does one license fee cover the use of all the players for one domain or do you have to buy a license for each player for one domain?

For example

Does one license cover all players to be used on www.mydomain.com?

It covers all players on one domain.

We recently purchased a LongTail Flash Player Enterprise License from our software reseller. Now we are being told that if we want any add-ons that would be extra. Is that correct? Various employees seem to disagree with them.

Thanks,

Suzanne,

What is the reseller? The basic license just covers the player. It depends on what addons you are going to use.

Best,
-Ethan

Hello,

We've bought a premium licensed JWPlayer. We are using it for an intranet's corporate site of a society.
But we need to make CD of this page (for offline browsing) for a few employees of this society.
Is it covered by the premium licence?

Thank you.

@Xavier - Please contact sales [at] longtailvideo [dot] com regarding this matter, thank you.

thks.

Please contact sales [at] longtailvideo [dot] com regarding this matter, thank you.

I purchased a licence about a month ago and I am using it in my site which uses wp as a backend, I have just recieved an upgrade message.

My questions are...

If I upgrade the player will I loose the already paid for licence?
If not when I upgrade will I have to re-enter all the info or will the player retain it settings.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If you upgrade, you will not loose your license.

You should not have to re-enter in anything.

Best,
-Ethan
