forcing flash flv player to process partial files?

4 replies [Last post]

hello
i was wondering if its possible to force flv player to process partial files ?

regular flv movies can be injected with metadata information, that way you use the exact keyframe location and it will be played accordingly

but what happens if its not a regular flv, what happens when its a live stream who have no metadata information ?
is it possible to force flash keep processing the movie till it can reach a valid keyframe chunk and continues from there?

thanks a lot, moov

This works with RTMP servers, but I don't know exactly what data they push to the player. I believe the server simply sends an atom first and next the stream.

hey JeroenW, thanks for the fast response.

i'm trying to avoid using rtmp, do i have an alternative ?
maybe from the server side ?

solution as.. storing the whole stream from th begining, and using a utility to properly CUT the movie, and let the live stream the ability to continue the flow ?

currently the only solution i have.. is running the converter on each request, which is very CPU intensive.

thanks a lot, roow

unfortunately i didn't find any solution regards the operation i want to achieve
