duration of mp4 clip is misread by JW player

10 replies [Last post]

Hi there,

i am trying to have an .mp4 clip (created and exported from Final Cut Pro), playable on my website, using the JW player. But the player 'thinks' that the file is 9 minute long, instead of the 2 minutes that it is, and therefore once it finishes palying the clip it gets stuck in "downloading" mode (the revolving thing..).

does that mean that the .mp4 clip doesn't have metadata (like the clip's accurate length) ? and if so, how to i fix this problem ?

thanks a lot !

Aylam

ok, thanks ! and sorry.... new to this...

Sorry Hobbs, this is not crossposting ;

the .mp4 time not correctly read is real, both on 4.x and 5.x (licensed) .. and this is not because of the so - called atom not being at the begining of the file

Something more : i can read .mp4 on 4.x players, but not on 5.x player, i get an ultraslow output, black screen for a long time, loader showing a very long time (+1 min) and then first iamge appears and freeze.

All test on al players are done with the exact same rtmp server and .mp4 files

my v5 player is the latest licenced built today -> v5.0.753

Zach, any news ?

@SeTyR -

Please email support at longtailvideo.com with a link to the page(s) with this problem.

I'm not sure what the issue is in JW4.

With regards to JW5, I believe that the issue is that you haven't specified a streamer in your playlist. This means that the player won't have necessary connection parameters. Try adding in the <jwplayer:streamer> tag to your playlist to see if this resolves the issue.

Thx Zach ;

I am specifiying a streamer with v5.1,
my playlists are in xsfp format, should i use a " jwplayer:" tag, or specify a meta = streamer ?

actually, im doing a meta , could it be therefor it doesnt work on v5.1 ?
