I am unable to configure JW FLV Player to play live MP4 streams. It looks as though it buffers and buffers but never plays.
It works fine if the stream is FLV.

Hi Ethan
I've managed to get it to work if I identify the stream to be FLV rather than MP4 - e.g. the file has flv:livestream
I wonder if live encoding still wraps H.264 in FLV rather than MPEG4 and therefore it should correctly be identified as FLV.
Lee
Hi Lee,
It would depend on how you encoded it I would think.
Best,

I'm using Adobe's Flash Media Live Encoder (v3). It doesn't have any options for the wrapper, only the codec (VP6 vs H.264).

You are also using FMS 3.5 I presume? There's a few small bugs in live streaming H264 for this server that Adobe is still working on. We discovered issues too when working on DVR support for the player.
I suggest you stick to VP6 for now. Hopefully an upcoming patch will fix this...
Hi - yes, FMS 3.5. Thanks for the update - is there anything official on Adobe's site about the bugs?
We did go with VP6 in the end anyway - to make it as accessible as possible.
I haven't found anything official on Adobe's site on this, but heard from a few other publishers they had issues with MP4 live.
VP6 is indeed best for now.
Hi!
We are experiencing similar difficulties with our live mp4 stream. Die Video buffers and buffers, but the audio runs fine. I guess its the mp4 that isnt recognized...
But the interesting thing is that Version 4 of JW PLayer displays the Stream just fine.
Hope that Version 5 will be able to display Live Mp4 Streams soon.
