Bad aspect ratio with RTMP streaming

1 reply [Last post]

I'm using jwplayer 4.6.485 (licensed) for both mp4 files and rtmp streams. The files are displayed correctly, but the rtmp streams are displayed with an aspect ratio that looks like 4:3 when it should be 16:9. The result is an overstretched/squished video frame with black borders on both sides, as if you were playing an anamorphic DVD on a 4:3 television.

I'm instantiating jwplayer with stretching=uniform.

VLC plays the streams in the correct aspect ratio, so I'm thinking there's a problem on the jwplayer side.

The files and streams are all encoded with H.264 / AAC.

Hi Forest,

This is Ethan from LongTail here to help you.

If you set the stretching flashvar to fill or exactfit, it should fix this issue.

Please email me directly at ethan [at] longtailvideo [dot] com to follow up if you have any other questions, thank you.

Best Regards,
