Mediaplayer with Youtube doesn't work anymore

I agree with you. I am trying an implementation with a playlist and the entries for youtube videos don't work. It would be nice if this is fixed, and if it is not possible it would be convenient to know that it is not possible any more. Regards.

I am using a playlist and the urls pointing at youtube videos don't work. The only aim of this message is to verifiy if everybody else is suffering the same incidence. It was a good try to have mediaplayer play youtube videos, but it seems to be that we cannot fight against the powerous youtube. Regards

Seems like YouTube changed something and has it fixed again now. All working.

Note that the player uses the official YouTube API, so we're not hacking or doing anything wrong here...

I notice that this is an intermittent issue. Before about 1 month ago, I didn't have an issue but now playing YouTube videos using the media player only works 30% of the time. Most of the time it will display a blank screen after attempting to load the video. The remaining 30% of the time, it plays fine.

This is really annoying but I don't think it's anything to do with the media player, I think YouTube is screwing up on the API somewhere.

I can get Youtube videos to work fine in JW on Firefox but all other browsers won't play them. I click the playlist item and nothing happens, other non-youtube content works fine though. Is that weird or what?

Hi,I use Firefox 3 but you tube vids don`t work anymore, just blank space. I have searched and searched for help but the only usual suggestion is uninstalling then reinstalling flash, have done that ad nauseum but it makes no difference. You Tube works on IE and Safari [ at th moment ], but I can`t be doing with having to keep opening different browser types, I just want to be able to see vids on the same browser like I used to.
If anyone posts a vid on forums I get blank space there too.
I have java enabled and all the usual checks show that it should be working.
Can anyone help, [ without just suggesting the same old same old which I have already tried ], before I throw my lap top out of a window in frustration at it not doing something as simple as playing a flippin` you tube vid :-/

Throw away old cookies!

Go to Tools/Options/Privacy and Show Cookies. Search for 'Youtube' cookies and delete them. Restart Firefox and there you go. /KZ

The problem I have is that after the player reaches the end of the first item it won't go on to play the second one. It just sits there with the "Loading" rotating graphic. This is the case with two different access types:
1) http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/lozdrum/uploads
2) http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/playlists/948F9CA8868234B3

Similarly, if I then click on the second item it will play it OK but then hangs at the end and won't go on to the third item.

I have cleared cookies and cache with no effect. Problem is identical in IE6 & FF3. Any ideas?

P.S. I have now identified that this effect only happens when the hosting web pages are served via my local PC running WinXP/Apache. When exactly the same codebase is run on the production Linux server it works fine. I can live with this...

OK... there is a first thing I can say...

As you might know I use the "workaround" to play YouTube videos, I do not use the built in function.

Every night I run a script which checks if the file still exists on the YouTube servers.

In the very past I checked:

Some weeks ago YouTube made changes, and I needed to check :
http://de.youtube.com/get_video.php...

My server is in Germany, so I needed to set a "de" instead of www.

Now, just this night it has changed again, as it seems. Now using the WWW query gets me to the right result, while the DE query gets me to a wrong - or lets say it gets me to a different result than before.

So, there have been changes 100% on YouTube, but the workaround itself is working ALL the time....

Just yesterday I had some videos which I didnt get to play... but maybe its because they started to change their database and files, so some files were not available... no idea.

Next thing I found...

Usually all videos exist in normal quality (FLV) and in high quality (MP4 = &fmt=18)

But recently I find some videos which do break that rule, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q85Tq3C6Bcc

The FLV exists and can be downloaded,
the MP4 just returns an empty page.

I don't know if
- YouTube has stopped to create MP4s for some files
- there never was an MP4 version of this video
- this is just a bug

You need to look at http://www.flvhosting.com on the right hand side they have a player that WORKS with youtube URLS
they also have a site called http://getyoutube.com
and a conversion site called http://flvencoder.com but its also for MP4

Your web server is probably misconfigured, or you're pointing your browser to the wrong page.

I really hate when I want to watch soemthing amazing, the video won't play. It happens alot with my mac.

Youtube doesn't work on my mac at all, it'll freeze the screen every time I try to play a video in it and I have to close the internet down. Anyone else having this problem? Any advice on what to do and what could be causing it?

I am having major problems for over 2 weeks. I tried to change the player like one of the suggestions but that didnt work, You tube doesnt even come up. It keep saying problem loading page. I have tried all kinds of things. Can anyone help?
