Issues With Video Playback on iPhone When Using Playlist

While creating a demo for a new client I found the following issues when testing playback on my iPhone (4S):

  1. (Flow plugin only) After playing a video, the playlist no longer appears in the player. You have to reload the page to play a different video.
  2. (non-Flow plugin only) The playlist is not honoring the "jwplayer:ova.hidden" setting in the playlist xml file.
  3. (Both) After the selected video finishes playback, all videos that follow the selected video play as well. In my sample playlist of five videos, the second one is marked as "hidden". If you play the first video in the list, all 5 videos play, even with the Flow plugin, which honors the hidden setting.

I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8 on my server. I created two example pages that can be viewed at http://166.70.126.11/jwp-flow-demo/iphone.html and http://166.70.126.11/jwp-flow-demo/html5.html. The iphone.html page does not use the Flow plugin, while the html5.html page does. In order to make my examples as close to the example on the Flow plugin page, I used copies of the thumbnails and the playlist.xml file. Each video points to a unique copy of the video.mp4 that was included in the installation files.

Thanks for looking into this!

Thanks for the feedback. I've created a ticket to address the issue with ova.hidden items being displayed in HTML5 mode:

http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/ticket/1577

On iOS, the default "repeat" setting is set to "list," since without the playlist UI element, there's no way to jump to another playlist item (i.e. no controlbar next/prev buttons). To circumvent this, simply set the "repeat" option to "none" explicitly in your player config.

As for the Flow plugin, we'll notify the plugin developer of your feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. There are indeed some issues with the Flow plugin and version JW player 5.7 and above. They will be fixed soon in Flow 2.1
