Audio Problem

2 replies [Last post]

Hello,

I'm french but I think I can describe the problem in english :

I noticed this problem with a mp4 file in JW Player,

it plays fine but the audio is a little degraded,

here's a link to the video which is a percussion rythm starting with 3 low beats (like a bass drum), the problem is that there is some kind of buzz (treble) sound added that should not be there,
you can here that "buzz" nearly on every low beats

on the same page below the JW Player, you'll see a direct link to a portion of the very same file, like that you can compare the sound & hear the difference.

Maybe you can find where lies the problem & find a solution,

Apart from that it's really a good plugin, thanx a lot for your work.

@Christophe -

I do hear a minor difference between the raw file itself and the file played within Flash. There's not much that can be done here, however. Every video/audio renderer can choose slightly different ways of decoding the file. The JW Player doesn't do any of this decoding itself -- it relies on either Flash or the browser (in HTML5 mode) to play the video.

If you prefer the way the browser plays it, you could choose to embed the player in HTML5 mode, which would remove Flash from the equation.

In general though, there isn't a great way to ensure audio fidelity on the web.

Thanx for your answer PabloS,

will try the html5 mode, though I'm not sure how to do it with Wordpress,

maybe I should upgrade to the latest version of JW player (still with v1.4.3).
