The plugin does not have a valid header.

19 replies [Last post]

Can you help me with this? I have a wordpress.org version 2.8 blog called, RemedyU.com and I want to install an audio file in one of my posts. I downloaded the zip file and installed it to the blog successfully. But when I click on Activate Plug-in, it gives me this prompt (below) and I cannot activate it.

The plugin does not have a valid header.

What do I need to do?

Also, once activated, how do I install audio file?

What zip file did you download?

We need a lot more detailed information before we can help you.

No mind readers here.

Here is the link:
http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/

Tried installing to Wordpress 2.8 and now I go to plug ins and it is NOT in the list! So I tried reinstalling and it fails saying it already exists. But WHERE is it??

I did use the setup wizard if that means anything and changed the coloring of the player.

I simply want to play an audio file within a post.

What other info do you need?

I just tried dl'ing the WMV player also and installing. It does the SAME thing! It is not in the list and gives me the message of Plugin Doesn't have valid header!

Man... so frustrating!

That package is just the JW FLV Player.

It is not any sort of a plugin for Wordpress.

If you want a plugin for Wordpress, see this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordtube/

Oh and now when I try to go into the plug-ins editor to see if I can find the code, Firefux crashes on me EVERY time!!

I told Mozilla that with every new release they put out the worse their browser gets! Only thing, what else do you use?? IE is also crap and so are most of the others like Opera and Safari, etc.

How do I UNinstall this player from my account when I can't even see it in the plug-ins list?

Hey... cool... I dl'ed that player to wordpress and installed great!

So how do I get it into a post?

I tried clicking on the music note above the post and all that did was insert a link, not the player.

I also went to the plugin home page and read the install directions and I still haven't got it to work. I'm trying to use it with a URL link, not any uploaded sound file because the file I want to use is over the max 8 mb's.

Well, I got Real Player to embed but not WordTube.
Don't know how to code it.

And I would REALLY like to get that JW player code out of my editor!

Anyone want to help?

and they said there's great support on here...

Not from what *I* have seen!!

I have the exact same error with the header message.
I install wordpress for people all the time, so I am not a newbie.
This is the new release of WP 2.8.
What is up?

I have run into this several times with different plug-ins for Word Press. The latest was tinyMCE which was not saving any edits ,so I deleted it and reinstalled using a source forge zip file. But now it will not activate .The invalid header problem again.

I also have the exact same problem (invalid header and then says already installed). It has happened with multiple well document plugins (such as constant contact).

Anyone know why??

I get this stupid message The plugin does not have a valid header... how can it be so hard to fix ?????

Please let us know what we all have to do with getting this message: The plugin does not have a valid header.

This is from downloading: magerotator.zip

I have the new WP 2.8.5

Downloaded fine but could not activate.

Thanks

The error message is coming from the Wordpress plugin, not the JW FLV Player.

Look on the Wordpress Forum for help.

The answer to that "plugin does not have a valid header" means exactly what it's telling you. The "silly" goof-ball developer who very RARELY uses Wordpress has simply forgotten that you CANNOT zip the plugin inside another zipped file with his readme.txt and whatever other files are included.

There can only be ONE zipped file with the PLUGIN inside it. Otherwise, your Wordpress installer un-zips it and doesn't see any header because there isn't one. There is the readme.txt or whatever along with ANOTHER zipped Plugin file nobody told the Wordpress Installer about. WP does (1) unzip per installation, folks. Limit: 1 zipped file per installation, please!

Makes me want to just sit down on the floor in the corner and contemplate the true meaning of string.
