Getting Platform Usage Costs Straight...

So I think I am utterly confused how much it costs to use the platform. As we're creating financial projections with platform usage estimates, I would greatly appreciate if someone set me straight on costs.

In the Q&A, it says "1GB of platform usage is about 50 minutes of video."

Is this 50 minutes of video VIEWED or 50 minutes of video sitting stored somewhere?

Because as an example: Between May 29th to June 20th - we used up about 10 GB of platform usage (which according to the logic above should be about 500 minutes of video). Yet, the analytics shows that in the same time 64.3 hours of video was watched. (or 3800 minutes) This leads me to believe that "platform usage" costs don't depend on how many minutes are watched rather the amount of videos stored.

Or is it the minutes watched for each unique video?

So yes, I am confused a bit. Can someone set me straight? (Like I am a 5-year old, please.) ;)

Platform usage is a cost based on the combined filesize of your original and converted videos.

Especially since this number also takes into account the size of your original, it is very hard to pin this amount down to a reasonable estimates, since we see people upload both very small videos, and very large videos where an original of 10 minutes is a couple of GB large.

Anyhow, if you manage a video library of 10 GB, we will deduct 10 GB from your platform usage balance over the course of a month. We do this by deducting 1/30th of 10 GB (some 330 MB) every day.

I see - that helps. Thank you. So it depends on how much video is uploaded.
So this also means that as my video library grows - so does the cost.
However, it means that platform cost stay the same regardless whether the video gets watched once or 20,000 times. Correct?

That is correct, platform usage is not affected by view counts at all (that is all put in our traffic costs).
