Starts with a blurry frame, stops, the restarts

The video starts with a blurry, low resolution quality, then stops, then starts up from the beginning again with a better quality.

Here is a screen capture of what it does on the page: http://content.bitsontherun.com/previews/VJWey8Ia-kL6K5MhT

Here is the actual video: http://content.bitsontherun.com/previews/LIWKZupr-kL6K5MhT

I output it again at a lower data rate and it still stops/starts: http://content.bitsontherun.com/previews/Ii68AWzJ-kL6K5MhT

Help!

By the way, I just tested on an iPad it plays perfectly without the stop/start blurry first frames...

This is a bitrate switching thing, which might happen if your connection speed is between two levels. I just changed your delivery method to the default method that we now apply for all for new accounts, can you check if you still have this issue now?

Now it starts with a blurry image (as it did before), but does not stop to reload the better quality, and continues playing a low quality version.

The iPad (which played the video perfectly) used the same wifi network/connection speed.

Whatever you switched now makes ALL my videos look very poor quality.

Maybe you change that setting back, and try something else :-)

I think what happens is that the bitrate switching does not switch up because you do only have 2 levels that are very far apart.

The best way to make sure that it does not go down is by forcing the player to only use the high quality template has I have done for this particular player here: http://dashboard.bitsontherun.com/players/kL6K5MhT/#tab=playback-tab

I have a similar issue. Since a few weeks our video's in BoTr startup blurry and it takes time to recover. It does so in a slowinternet-place and also in a highspeed internet place.

Please help because we can't deliver this poor quality video's to our customers.

I'd also recommend you set playback to progressive download of a specific conversion:

Do you have your account key or login name? Then we can take a look at why this might happen...

There may be issues with the player detecting the bandwidth incorrectly b/c your compressed videos are so small (animations compress really well). In that case, it may be best to set all videos to play with the 720 conversion progressive. Then the player will always use that, instead of trying to switch.

I've setup an example player called "eerstestap.nl (progressive)". Inside, you'll see that its "streaming" option is hard-coded to the 720 conversions. Now the video will never start blurry. It should be easy to set this for other players (or maybe even use the 1280 conversion, which looks better in fullscreen).

Thnks we will give it a try.
