AdSolution & Keywords

3 replies [Last post]

Hi,

Its very difficult to use the AdSolution plugin without being able to specify keywords at the time of inclusion (ie the HTML).

Take the video sharing website Vimeo for example. Would they create millions of Ad Groups in the advertising control panel to optimize ads for each video? Not a chance!

It would make more sense to be able to specify relevant keywords to the plugin when its included. Otherwise the only keywords available to the advertisers are the ones I initially specified like "Online video".

This shouldn't have to be a feature request, I'm surprised its not really included to begin with. Its simple advertising 101 -> Target your ads.

Funny cat -> Friskies cat food
Motorcycle wipeout -> Honda Motors
Banana slip and fall -> Delmonte

but as it is right now

Funny cat -> Online Video?
Motorcycle wipeout -> Online Video?
Banana slip and fall -> Online Video?

Useless for both me and your advertisers!

@Kevin - Where are you running the AdSolution?

I know it seems like something easy, but our AdSolution also tries to give you 100% fill, so if there is no ad, it will at least give you something. "Online Video" is better than nothing at all, right?

We also have premium ads, an example of one of these ads networks is Google AdSense for Video, which *will* give you relevant ads. If you feel as if you site qualifies for premium ads like this, please submit me your site at ethan [at] longtailvideo [dot] com, and I will submit you to the premium ad networks for approval, thank you.

Hi Ethan,

I am already eligible for premium ads however the problem still remains:

-> I can't supply keywords via flashvars.

Creating thousands of AdGroups / Keyword settings via the online website just isn't going to happen. Keywords must be able to be provided via flashvars for AdSolution to be taken seriously.

@Kevin - Again, Where are you running the AdSolution? Has your website been approved for premium ads? Did you receive an email from me saying that it was approved? If you do not wish to post the link here, email to to me @ ethan [at] longtailvideo [dot] com, thanks.
