wordpress plugin player code showing in front page Preview

My blog has functionality where , on the front page, there is a snippet of each blog post, instead of showing the entire blog post. If you click the title you are taken to the post where you can read the entire thing.

The problem I am having is that, if the blog post is made up only of a video inserted using the wp jw player plugin, the preview of the post on the front page is showing the code for the video.

you can see the example on fornewbies com the most recent post.

Tks for any insight.

Hey guys,

This behavior is dependent on the theme you are using and how it generates the snippets that appear on your homepage. The snippet can either come from 'the_excerpt' or 'the_content'.

The plugin lets you configure how the shortcode works in this regard. Just visit the JW Player settings page in the admin section of your site. Play around with the options in the Shortcode Settings section. I imagine you're using a category page for your home page so you will likely need to switch this from using 'the_content' to 'the_excerpt'.

If you need anymore assistance just let me know.

Thanks.

I just discovered these settings and I am unclear on what they mean or do. Currently they are disabled, the videos work fine but perhaps they might load faster if the setting were changed? thanks

Hi Karen,

These just affect how the player is inserted on the page. It's a question of theme compatibility not performance. If the player is working as expected on your site you don't need to touch these settings.

Thanks.
