player-viral.swf - on local computer

8 replies [Last post]

Hi all!

Just wanted to share my experience. I downloaded the new version with the pre-bundled Viral.

I unzipped, and started to watch the readme.html on my local filsystem. The Viral plugin didn't work.. I looked for errors in the code and searched some forums. Tried to call the plugin some different ways, and experimented with the flashvars - but no luck..

Then I uploaded the complete directory to my webserver, and volia.. the plugin worked right out of the zip..

So - upload it to a webserver to see it work right out of the zip :-)

Thanks Tore

That works.

Very interesting. Have you customized the plugin at all?

John

Well I guess thats what u'r supposed to in first place, right? not big news...but thanks anyways.

I have the player-viral.swf and the videos play on my site but the videos cannot be embedded into other sites. Am I doing something wrong, is there another player? do I have to pay? help.

Thanks.

Can you provide a link?

The setup wizard says player.swf but I download player-viral.swf. I don't get it. Are they the same thing? Is the wizard old?

No, it is not. The player-viral.swf is just the player with the viral plugin bundled in. Uncheck "viral" while downloading the player to remove it.

I had the same problem as Joe and unchecking "viral" fixed it. But the wizard code is leaving out the end tag for <embed>. I added it and works. Why wouldn't the wizard include this?

The wizard includes code for embed as well as object code.
