I really love this vimeo looking skin and its a huge shame I can't use it.

This skin does not allow for any timecode, either elapsed or duration. The timecodes simply appear on a blank background.

In the meantime, it looks pretty bad for Jeroen Wijering to have created this skin without any thought to this essential piece. I've never seen a site without some sort of timecode. Very poor usability.

Thank you for everything you guys do,
Mike

Is it possible to build a plugin to fix this bug?

Reply

Not at present, unfortunately. We have to add something to the skinning model for it, which we'll do:

http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/ticket/1417

Alternatively, you can use the"tooltip" plugin, which will popup a tooltip (like Vimeo) when rolling over the time slider.

Thank you for opening that ticket! Is there a way to use or build a plugin to compensate for this issue without having to load in the js/actionscript sdk?

Reply

No, this is typically a plugin that should get built using the AS3 SDK. However, let me try push this on the 5.8 roadmap so support is in there soon.

Thank you so much!

any updates with this issue?

Not at present, though Pablo and I chatted about this yesterday. It will probably be part of the 5.8 release. If it turns out to be a huge amount of work (unlikely), we'll do it later.

Great! Really looking forward to this.

Reply

Any eta on when 5.8 is going to come out? Thanks!

Reply

Not precisely, but around mid october.

Reply

I'm also very interested in this! Looking forward to the release.

I'm waiting too...

Reply

I suppose it would be available soon as it is mid-October now. Is that right Jeroen?

Reply

Still working on this indeed...

Was this bug fixed in this 5.8 release?

Reply

No, we still have it on the list. It will get done though, we are troubled by the issue ourselves as well, on our own site...

When we can get the timecode in this skin.

We already purchased it and now our client need it.

Please help ASAP.

How dropbox.com is doing it ?

Reply

It would really make my day to have this timecode bug fixed!

Reply

Any further ETA on this?

Reply

Dropbox uses the swf skin and an old version of the player (4.5).
I guess it is only with the new png skins that it doesn't work.

Reply

Yes indeed, this is PNG only. No ETA yet...

Reply

any update as to the eta?

Reply

Still in the pipeline, for the 5.9 player (january).

Sounds great! Excited!

There's no way to do the vimeo style time lapse scrubber is there?

Reply

I too wanted to add my vote on this.

I like so much the Bekle Skin, the only thing missing is the running time.

Awesome!

Is there a beta of 5.9 we can try out?

I don't have the player in production yet (heck, I don't event have the website ready neither)... working on setting everything up and testing it.

So if there is any beta groups, I'm willing to help out.

:-)

Yes, you can grab player.swf and jwwplayer.min.js from this location:

Great!

And I just saw that 5.9 has been just released!

With this new release of JW 5.9, we will need to re-download the Bekle Skin for the new fixes, right?

Reply

Yes indeed. The skin isn't live yet, but you can grab it directly from our repo here:

(the "download" link at the bottom)

I have the repo running.

Did you include a new tooltip timeline scrubber feature as part of the skinning/contolbar functionality ?

Reply

No, not yet. That'll be part of a new player update.
