Hi,
Looking through the forum, it appears that skins can't be modified in CS4.
(http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/ticket/365 , http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forum/Skins/14151/skinning-errors-with-flash-CS4 )
I was going to download a trial copy of flash, but CS3 has been discontinued. So I can't edit skins.
Is it possible to edit with anything other than CS3?
Thanks
Jon

I am wondering the same thing. CS4 has been out for some time now. Is the JW Player still being supported??

The issue with CS4 skins is a difficult one to tackle. Fixing it requires certain skinning functionalities to break. I'd rather only do this with a 5.0 version of the player, so the 4.xx range remains backward compatible. So for now, please only use CS3. The 5.xx is already being worked on (see the developer site).

This is terrible.
Not only did I waste lots of hours already trying to figure out why building out of CS4 didn't work - I paid for a commercial license, and then discover that I can't edit the skin at all! I don't have CS3, and like someone else pointed out, it's not available anymore!

Yes, there's a problem here. I don't have CS3 and can no longer get it, so I'm a bit stuck too. I wish there was still a demo available.

I agree, i spent a whole day, and only just found out this!
I paid for a commercial license too!
Can we get a preview player of 5?

Can it help to edit the skin in CS 4, save .fla as cs3 and export in cs3?

Same thing. How long will it take until skins can also be edited in CS4?
@Sander: I tried this myself - didn't work for me

"How long will it take until skins can also be edited in CS4?"
Probably never.
If you look at ticket #228, it looks like the v5 player will use PNG skins.

cool that i read this threat. i would spend today a full day to make my own skin....
Is there no other way to change only the PLAY/STOP/PAUSE images? I have a CS4 Production Premium licence, but i don't wan't to learn Flash, for only changing 3 images from the standart skin.
Any Ideas to do this easier?

@Stefan
I took the modieus skin and opened it in cs4 as .fla, saved it in cs4, closed it, opened it, saved it as cs3 .fla, opened it in cs3 and did export > flash movie > ...
it works when tested with jw-player-setup-wizard
i have to see if it works with my own skin.

Hm- what exactly is the problem with CS4? I just edited a skin with CS4 and compiled it and it seems to work?
