Is the JW Image Rotator and the JW Player the same thing? Do I have to buy a license if I am using the JW Image Rotator but with Flash Player?

@Andree - the Image Rotator is a different product than the JW Player, however both are covered under the same license. If you purchase a player license, that covers the JW FLV Player, the JW WMV Player with Silverlight and the Image Rotator. You can purchase a player license here:

So that means, when I wanna use only the image rotator on a private site with ads, I have to pay for a commercial license of jwplayer?

Heinrich,

What is the purpose of having a "private" site with ads?

Again, if you are making money off of your website, which you do from having ads on it, it qualifies as a commercial endeavor and thus, you need to obtain a license.

I've just submitted an email re not being able to find out the cost of the Image Rotator, but having just found this thread... Does that mean that I have to pay for a bundle containing lots of things that at the moment I don't need - purely to gain the licence for one small part that another program (NextGen photo gallery for WP) needs?

Hello Chiz,

A single site license covers all players for one domain.

You can place the order on this link: https://www.longtailvideo.com/players/order

Hi Darjan,

I'm also in the process of setting up a slideshow using the imagerotator with Nexgen gallery on WP site. While I don't have any issue purchasing a license for my site I do have a question about what will happen to the image rotator when I do purchase the license.

So, once I upgrade does the JWPlayer link get removed? Also, I've seen other sites using the imagerotator and nexgen gallery applying a description on mouseover, is this something I can setup once I upgrade? Or, can I just set up the slideshow to display descriptions by default without mouseover? Please let me know and I'll be upgrading if it works.

Thanks,

Matt

Matt,

When you purchase a license, you get to download an unbranded version of the player without the Watermark.

As for description, you can do this with the following variable:

shownavigation (true): Set this to false to completely hide the navigation bar.

Then, in your XML document, you list the actual description/title of the image.

Best,

Darjan
