Under the Single Domain License - is it ok to offer the embed code for the licensed player to other sites in order to promote media hosted in the licensed domain? Are the "Embed" and "Viral" plugins legal to use in order to let other sites feature my videos if I buy a Single Domain License?

GA - yes, it's okay to offer the embed code w/ a single domain license, no problem. And yes, it's legal to use the Embed and Viral plugins as well.

I found different opinions about the single domain license here (http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forum/Licensing-Questions/15312/One-domain-license-embedding-videos) and above.
Now I'm not sure, if a single domain license is correct, if I want to allow registered users to upload videos to my server, generate an embed code to include on their own websites. All storage is on my own server, all videos are delivered from my server.

Please let me know if I can use a single domain license or not. (does it make a difference if I take money for that service or not - because that's not sure yet)

Thanks in advance,
annelea.

Hey Guys,

I'm looking create a video hosting service using the JW player.

I plan on hosting the players on my site, and then provide users with embed code to play on their own sites.

Am I ok with a single license too, or do I need more licenses.

Thanks

Steve

@annelea - yes, a single domain license is okay for your proposed usage.

@leu - the image rotator is technically a player. If you're including it in a site for a client, then yes, you must purchase a separate license for each client.

@Steve - this usage would require an enterprise license. I suggest you contact us directly to discuss. http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/contact-us

Hi!
Is there an unlimited license? Is it possible? Thanks!

Apr. 07, 2009KevinMM

I have multiple domains (spelling variations) pointing at a single site running on multiple servers; the user only ever sees one site, but I assume it could look different to software depending on how it's checked.

Do I need a single-site, or multi-site license for this?

---
Also, I have already purchased a single-site license.

I see a link on the JW FLV player page to download the licensed version of the player, but there is no such link on the JW WMV player page.

Do I need a specific licensed version of the WMV player? If so : where can I download it?

Apr. 08, 2009Adam LongTail

@leu - there isn't an off-the-shelf unlimited license, though we do negotiate enterprise licenses with more flexible terms at prices that range from several hundred to several thousand Euros, depending on the circumstances. If you're interested in such a license, pls contact us.

@KevinMM - (i) you only need a single site license and (ii) there currently is no difference between the licensed and unlicensed WMV player.

Hello I have a single user licence for my web site at www.renderyard.com and all the films can be embed on to other web sites could you tell me if the player Im using will record the AdSolution generations when our films are embeded and played on other web sites?.

May. 06, 2009Adam LongTail

@renderyard - the AdSolution will work on embedded sites for the mid-roll overlay assuming you include the appropriate LongTail flashvars in your embed code.

What if I want to use an interactive map or something for a corporate intranet. here all employees would view the map, but not download it themselves. Am I able to use a single license for that?

Aug. 06, 2009Adam LongTail

@Laura - yes, a single site license seems most appropriate.

@Adam LongTail:

I'm not sure that I see the difference between what ga and Video Hosting want to do. As far as I can see, they want to do the same thing:

- host a licenced player.swf on their server
- play videos on their website
- allow other website owners to embed the videos on their sites

Is a One Site licence okay for ga because users can't upload their own videos do ga's website while they CAN do that on Video Hosting's website?
