I am using JW Player version 4.3.132 with a playlist including flv and mp4 on my server and flv from youtube.
Each video in the playlist also has an associated jpg image.
All was working well untill Flash Player auto-updated to version 10 (10,0,12,36).
flv and mp4 hosted on my server will now not load into player from playlist nor will their jpg image files.
Youtube videos continue to to load and play, though their jpg image files will not load into the player when they are selected from the playlist.
This behavior is consistent whether I use Firefox 3 /w Flash Player 10 or IE7 w/ Flash player 10.
All file paths on the xml file are absolute (I will paste example), and all files are on the production server.
If I test locally (by this I mean opening the html page; file:///C:/......) all videos and images load as expected.
The player is at;

Sample xml is;

It seems the problem is a Plash Player 10 security problem, but the player will need to operate in this environment, so I guess a patch is needed.

Add the www and ou won't run afoul of the same-domain security restriction:<image>http://www.fishrock.com.au/video-gallery/thumbs/wobbegong-feeding.jpg</image>
You MUST use the EXACT same domain! (Or upgrade to a player that doesn't have this problem.)

Click on the "@nnn" in the Rev column to download a particular release player.swf.

Thank you lefTy for your rapid and appropriate response.
Both your solutions correct this behavior.
I cannot control whether site users enter on www. or non-www. urls.
The site is on a windows server and I only have ftp access to it.
I downloaded rev 174 put it on the server now all files are loading into the player whether the url is www or non-www
I consider this support issue fully resolved.
Thanks again

I might add that I think I was too quick to assume the cause was Flash Player 10.
I always (out of habit ) access the site on the non-www url including all previous testing (when the videos were all loading)
Just this once I had accessed it through the site stats page which had written a www url (and then some of the videos did not load)
So if you experience this problem, read the solution above because it has nothing to do with Flash Player Version.

This crap player just don't work, it stays at the lame buffering ring while it downloads ton of stuff, and does NOTHING else.

TEMPORAL REMEDY FOR JWPlayer on: Firefox 3 + Adobe Flash Player 10 on a Mac OS X

I have had a problem, and the following is my system:

Hardware: MacBook Pro
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8
Browser: Firefox 3.5.4
Adobe Flash Player: 10

I have embedded JWPlayer on my site. A playlist of youtube favourite videos.

The problem is; in Firefox (including the Safari browser) the buffer wheel spins and video never loads. I tried almost everything until I realised that the problems started after updating Adobe Flash Player 9 to version 10.

I then decided to uninstall Adobe Flash Player 10, with this tool: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

And then installed Adobe Flash Player 9, from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

All video are playing in both browsers without any problems.

Some sites require Flash 10. Users like me of JWplayer are in a fix until this problem is resolved.

I hope Longtail video is looking into this problem?
