Managing JW Player Plugin for WordPress Settings

The JW Player Plugin for WordPress provides numerous options for configuring it's behavior across your site. This allows you to tailor the plugin exactly to your needs.

Shortcode Settings

This set of options allows you to customize the behavior of the shortcode across the various page types on your site. In most cases the default value should be sufficient. However, it may be necessary to change these settings when using certain themes as your theme may effect how the content of your page is rendered.

Optionally, you also have the ability to completely disable the shortcode on a certain page type. This will prevent the player from displaying and will remove the shortcode when the page is viewed.

Player Settings

This section allows you to make use of a non standard player location. You can tell the plugin to load the player from the directory you specify. Note that the both the player.swf and jwplayer.js need to be located in the directory you provide.

Content Settings

Here it's possible to restrict some of the options that are made available to users when editing a piece of content. Additionally, you can turn off the Facebook integration if you're using another plugin to manage this functionality.

Site Settings

This section lets you adjust options for how the plugin will interact with your site. If your site is using SSL the plugin will automatically use https URLs. However, if you don't want this to extend to JW Player Plugin for WordPress URLs you can turn this functionality off.

You can also disable the plugin's default behavior of including jwplayer.js/swfobject.js in the head of every page. If you disable this the plugin will only include these JavaScript files on pages where the JW Player shortcode exists.

Uninstall

This section lets you do a complete uninstall of the plugin if you decide you wish to no longer use it. This will remove all JW Player Plugin for WordPress settings from your database. You should be completely sure before doing this as it will remove all of your playlists as well as the plugin specific metadata for content in your media library.
