Basic Setup with MP4 Embedded Captions

Here is a setup of the Captions plugin displaying MP4 embedded captions:

The back property in this setup renders a black box around the captions. Set it to false to render a thin outline around the captions instead.

About Embedded Captions

Since the captions are embedded in the video, the captions.file flashvar doesn't have to be set. The plugin gets all track and caption data from the player through text track events.

The HTML5 videoplayer that's built into the iPad/iPhone also understands MP4 Embedded captions, which means this setup will also display captions in iOS. On the other hand, this type of captions is not supported in HTML5 browsers (only in Flash + iOS).

Tools like HandBrake or MP4 Box can be used to embed captions in MP4 files.
