  1. What are the different media players that you offer?

    We offer 5 editions of JW Player 6: JW Player Free, JW Player Pro, JW Player Premium, JW Player Ads and JW Player Enterprise. Visit our JW Player Pricing Page to determine which edition works best for your needs.

  2. How do I get the JW Player?

    You can download the Free edition of the JW Player on our download page. Be sure to activate your JW Player Account to get access to our video analytics, available in all editions of the JW Player. We also offer a cloud-hosted JW Player where no downloads are needed. Sign-up for a JW Player Account to try the cloud-hosted player.

    If you are looking to upgrade from an older version of the JW Player (i.e. JW Player 4x, JW Player 5x) to JW Player 6, please read our upgrade guide.

  3. How do I purchase a licensed version of the JW Player?

    We recommend you visit our JW Player Pricing Page to determine which edition works best for your needs.

  4. How do I setup and configure the JW Player?

    Once you have chosen your edition of the JW Player, you must load the JW Player on your website. We support two set-up methods: cloud-hosted & self-hosted. With either method, you need to configure both the <head> and the <body> of your webpage to load and embed the JW Player. Read our Quick Start Guide for detailed instructions. Or, use the Publish Wizard inside your account to help generate your embed code for you.

  5. How do I remove the JW Player logo?

    To remove the JW Player logo, you must purchase a commercial license for the JW Player. Once you have purchased your license, you will need to get the commercial version of the JW Player, inside your JW Player Account. Then, follow our support guide on how to display or remove the logo.

  6. How do I customize the right-click menu of the JW Player?

    To customize the right-click menu, you must purchase a commercial license for the JW Player. Once you have purchased your license, you will need to get the commercial version of the JW Player, inside your JW Player Account.

  7. Which Content Management Systems (CMS) does the JW Player integrate with?

    The JW Player provides custom integrations with Drupal, WordPress, and Joomla. Contact us for more information. The WordPress Plugin for JW Player 6 was released in March 2013. Please note that the JW Player Drupal plugin is only compatible up to version 5.10 of the player.

  8. Where can I report player bugs?

    If you think you have identified a bug in the JW Player, please visit our Bug Reports support forum and post your findings there.

  9. Where can I submit feature requests?

FEATURES

  1. What is a player skin?

    A JW Player Skin changes the appearance of the player. All visual components of the player (the controlbar, display, tooltip, dock and playlist) can be skinned. LongTail Video offers 8 premium JW Player skins in the JW Player Premium edition. Alternatively, you can build your own player skin for free.

  2. What built-in features does the JW Player provide?

    The JW Player provides a variety of built-in features. They include playlists, Apple HLS streaming, skinning, social sharing, related videos, integration with Google Analytics, captions, advertising, and more. Their availability varies by player edition.   3. What happened to the JW Player AddOns library?

    As of JW Player 6.0, the AddOns library has been deprecated. JW Player 6 offers a large number of integrated features. The AddOns library is no longer a supported feature in JW Player 6. If you are still using JW Player 5x or JW Player 4x, you can access the legacy AddOns library here, and the AddOns support documentation here.

  4. Does the JW Player support HTML5 playback on mobile devices?

    All editions of JW Player 6 support playback on mobile devices. We offer a seamless transition between HTML5 and Flash modes, to ensure optimal support for the most popular (widely-used) desktop browsers and mobile devices.   5. Does the JW Player support HLS streaming?

    JW Player 6 offers Apple’s HLS live streaming in both Flash & HTML5 as an advanced feature available only in the Premium and Ads editions of JW Player 6. You must purchase a commercial license to use Apple’s HLS streaming in Flash. Read more about HLS streaming here.

  1. I am interested in running video ads in my JW Player, which edition is right for me?

    If you are interested in running video ads in your JW Player, we offer a special edition of the Player, JW Player Ads. JW Player Ads supports all VAST/VPAID ad servers and ad networks, and offers special integrations with Google IMA and others.

  2. What is JW Player Ads?

    JW Player Ads is a subscription service that bundles the JW6 Premium Player with technology that enables you to serve video ads

  3. What do I need prior to signing up for the JW Player Ads service?

    In order to serve ads using the JW Player Ads service, you must have VAST/VPAID ad tags provided by an ad server or ad network. Publishers using Google DFP please contact us to learn more about our custom integration.

  4. What are VAST/VPAID ad tags?

  6. How is pricing determined for JW Player Ads?

    JW Player Ads subscriptions are priced based on:

    • Number of monthly ad impressions served
    • Number of domains on which your JW Player is embedded

    Pricing starts at $49 per month, which includes up to 250k monthly video ad impressions and embedding on up to 10 domains.

  8. I used your advertising plugins with the JW5 Player. Can I upgrade to JW6?

PLAYER LICENSING

  1. How do I purchase a license?

    To purchase a JW Player Player, first visit our JW Player Pricing Page and select the version that meets your needs, and then order online.

  2. How do I know if I need to purchase a license?

    Below is a list of the most common reasons you will need to purchase a JW Player license:

    • You want to remove the JW Player Logo
    • You are using the JW Player on a commercial site, or for commercial purposes
    • You are interested in one or more of the features offered in our licensed player editions.
    • You are running video ads in your JW Player

  3. What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept the following payment method: Credit card.

  4. I am interested in a custom enterprise license, who do I contact for pricing?

    We offer a variety of custom enterprise solutions for the JW Player. Please contact us and a sales agent will help determine the best solution for your needs.

  5. I am interested in reselling the JW Player, how do I find more information?

    If you are interested in becoming a reseller for the JW Player, please contact us directly.

  6. I have an older license for the JW Player (v.5X or earlier), what does it cover?

    As the terms of older licenses vary greatly, please contact sales and we will respond with the relevant information. Please remember to include your original order number & order email.

  7. Can I transfer my license to someone else?

    No. JW Player licenses are non-transferrable.

  8. What is your refund policy?

    We offer a 45-day money back guarantee. If you cancel your subscription within 45 days of purchase (the date on your invoice), you are eligible for full refund. Please contact support@longtailvideo.com to receive your refund.
